Bonn, Germany—15/09/2026—SLYCAN Trust, a global non-profit think tank, today announced it is officially changing its name to Clima Trust. Alongside the rebrand, the organisation will transition to a new web domain at climatrust.org. The new name reflects the organisation's growing regional and global presence and continued commitment to driving ambitious change in multilateralism and global processes as well as on the ground.
Founded in Sri Lanka as a think tank in 2019, SLYCAN Trust has grown from a nationally-focused organisation to a global actor working across working on climate change, sustainable development, finance, security, just transition, entrepreneurship and innovation, biodiversity, oceans, and social justice—including gender and youth empowerment. The transition to Clima Trust marks an important strategic milestone in our seven-year journey to expand our country-level and regional partnerships with enhanced and strengthened links to our global presence. Our name may be changing, but the core of our work is not—we remain committed to closing critical knowledge gaps, raising ambition in international negotiations, and supporting evidence-driven policymaking and its successful implementation.
While our global work will move forward under the Clima Trust name, our Sri Lankan office will continue to operate as SLYCAN Trust during the transition, and will function as a national partner of Clima Trust in our future work. This arrangement will preserve SLYCAN Trust’s distinct identity and longstanding relationship with Sri Lanka, and ensure continuity across the programmes that are currently being implemented in the country.
Join us on this new journey as we strive towards our vision for a truly global organization.
